Special Activities and Celebrations

The Diaz Family Foundation provided meals for special days of celebration such as "El Dia del Niño" celebrated in Mexico in April along with providing toys for the children around Christmas time. In addition, the staff of the Centro took initiative this year and raised additional funds on their own to provide additional equipment for the center.

How Can I Help?

The Greatest Needs

We get this question many times throughout the year.
Below are some key points in considering how you can help.

SIngle-Parent Households

The majority of children enrolled in our services are from single-parent households and live in extreme poverty.

Our goal for 2022 is to be able to provide quarterly food baskets with essentials for these families. Each basket runs around $75 and contains items such as sacks of rice, beans, essentials that can be used for months.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs must be replaced frequently due to children outgrowing them and other exterior factors such as the wear-and-tear of the wheels. Most of the streets in this area are cobblestone or distressed pavement and thus, take a toll on the regular use of the chair. Each wheelchair can cost as much as $300.

New Location

We have relocated to a bigger building to allow for the growing number of families and to provide additional space for necessary therapy. We are currently working to furnish the new space with essential items like tables and chairs.

Medically Necessary Travel

Many times, children are referred to specialty appointments outside the city. These appointments, although necessary, are a hardship for the family. Expenses for gas, food, hotels are sometimes impossible for families and and can average about $75 per visit.
